How do I access my radiator valves once covered with a radiator cover?
Your radiator valves can still be accessed but the ease of access depends on the cover you have chosen. It is rare to need constant access to your valves but if necessary on a regular basis, you may wish to choose a radiator cover with a removable front panel or opening doors. If you have ordered a bookcase for a radiator cabinet without a removable front panel, please be aware that access will be more difficult but you can of course make small modifications to the side of your cover to make access easier. We have created a helpful features table that also includes includes how a particular range allows valve access. Please Click Here to view.

If stock is no longer available at receipt of order, we will inform you and ask how you would like to proceed (place on back order, cancel, substitute etc).

Delivery charges to destinations outside of Mainland UK are based on the destination and the weight of your items and start at around £40 for a typical order to the nearest locations in the EU (including Ireland), USA and Canada but may be considerably more to other areas (Charges to New Zealand and Australia may be in excess of goods value).

Of course, if you wish to, you may print a particular web page from your Internet browser.

Why do you have a "Single Item Surcharge" choice next to some of the products in your shop?
Many companies have a minimum order for certain items when it is not cost effective to sell just one of them. We have tried to solve this where this applies to our products, by introducing a single item surcharge selector. This is usually only found on our mdf grille panels. This increases the price of a single item but not as much as requesting that you purchase a multiple of them.

Where a Single Item Surcharge selector is present this is what to do:
If you will only be buying one of the item and no other products will be added to your cart during your visit to our shop, then leave the
Single Item Surcharge box set to: Surcharge (Only this item at checkout +£10.00).
A £10 surcharge will be added to your order at the checkout.

If you will be buying more than one of the item or you will be adding further items to your cart during your visit to our shop, simply set the selector to: Removed (I will have more items at checkout).

If you have already added an item to Cart with the surcharge on but you actually required more than one, or will be purchasing additional products, you will need to empty the surcharged product from your Cart and add the item again with the surcharge removed.

If you leave the surcharge on by mistake, it will not be added to the amount we take in payment. This will not show in your confirmation email but rest assured that the correct amount will be deducted from your payment method.

(We are continually improving our website and this will soon be an automatic feature adjusted at the checkout)

Back to Questions

I only need a single decorative grille sheet. Can you supply this?

By far, the majority of items in our online shop can be purchased as a single item.

A small number of items are sold in a minimum quantity of 3 where it is simply not cost effective for us to arrange and package the item in a lower quantity. Please do not ask us if we can avoid this as sorry but we will not be able to.

For a few products, a Single Item Surcharge is applied and a drop down box is present, indicating a Single Item Surcharge. If the drop box is not there, there is no single item surcharge.

Using the drop down box selector, you can remove the surcharge yourself if you will be purchasing more than one of the particular item or will be adding further products during your visit.

(Please note that all orders and payments are checked. You will not be charged a surcharge if left on accidently. This will not appear in your confirmation email but will be correct on your billing information.)

Please see question above for further information.

Can you cut the grille I require?
If a perforated sheet grille is available supplied cut to size, it will be stated in the details on the page of that product and there will usually be a link or button on the page that will take you to a pricing calculator to obtain your cut size prices. Otherwise it is sold only in the sheet size shown.

Grilles sold as made to order, are made to the sizes you request and no cutting is therefore required.

Always remember to allow a enough additional grille to fix through (typically 15 to 20mm all around).

To jump straight to our selection of made to order and cut to size grille pricing calculators, please click here.

If you would like to cut the grilles yourself, please read the question below.

Back to Questions

Can I cut the grilles myself?
Only perforated grille sheets, would require cutting to size and are approx. 1mm in thickness for metal and approx. 3mm for mdf.
Cutting can easily be performed with tin snips or a jigsaw with metal cutting saw blades if metal or a hacksaw, knife or similar, if mdf.

The only difference between our cutting and the customers, is that your cut may not be as clean. In most cases this is hidden.

Tin snips can be purchased very cheaply from you local DIY store.

Choose the best sheet size for the size and quantity of grilles you require.

Hand made Regency, Georgian and Real Interwoven ranges are not able to be cut by the customer and are manufactured to the size you specify.

Wire mesh alone e.g. MEB/FM can be cut with sturdy scissors.

Back to Questions

I do not require a whole sheet of your grille. What is the solution?
Some of our grilles are available cut to size and will save on the cost of a full sheet.
If a particular grille sheet is available cut to size, this is indicated in the product's notes with a link to a pricing and ordering calculator. (For
Can you cut the grille I require? please click here)

Grilles that are made to measure/order: Regency Diamond, Georgian Square and Real Interwoven, are hand made to your requested size and you will only be charged for the amount of grille required.

Please note that regardless of size of grille, our facilities are set up for courier dispatches only, Postal carriers will not accept such large and heavy items. Therefore the minimum addition of £8.50 to any grille is applicable (to mainland UK). Please note that we subside heavily, the rate that couriers charge us. Our mainly large and heavy items cost a great deal to transport and we make absolutely no profit on our delivery charges.

Back to Questions

Do you have a small sample of grille you can send me?
We believe that the grille images on this website are very representative of their look but we can send you a small (approx. 3 inches square) sample of grille if it is available as a sample.
Grille samples are generally either perforated sheet patterns, wire mesh or hand made. We have most perforated grilles and wire mesh available as samples but hand made to order grilles such as Regency, Georgian and Interwoven, are not always available as samples or available in the style you may require. Due to their expense, made to order nature and the many possible design options available, hand made grille samples become available over time depending on what is being manufactured over the recent period. We therefore only have a few samples of the most popular designs to show the quality of the product and you will be offered the closest match as a sample or the closest image if not.
We rarely have many real interwoven grille samples or samples with nickel plated finishes. These are very expensive grilles for which samples have to be especially made and go quite quickly when available.
If you require an exact sample of made to order grille and it is unavailable, we would have to make it especially and therefore you would need to purchase a piece though the usual quotation and purchasing process (min cost is for 1 sq foot).

Sample main points:

Please remember that the general organisation of locating, packing and sending of samples on a regular basis and to many customers, can be very time consuming and expensive for us and we therefore kindly ask that samples are only requested where necessary.

  • Samples are free to UK Mainland addresses but we charge to send samples outside of mainland UK, to cover our costs only. (Outside of Mainland UK = £10 to £20 dependent on weight and location, this includes administration, packing and delivery).
  • Delivery of samples to UK Mainland is free of charge (at this time) but we will only send one delivery for free. The next delivery would be charged at £5.
  • 3 samples maximum in perforated or wire mesh or 1 in Regency, Georgian or Real Interwoven (more may be available to business to business customers)
  • If we do not have a sample of the actual grille available, we may be able to send you the design in one finish and the finish in another design or a quality image.
  • We rarely have nickel samples but we may have chrome as an alternative, they are almost indistinguishable. Other plated made to order grille finishes may also be unavailable as samples as they go quite quickly when available.
  • Samples are approx 3 inches square and cannot be requested to the customers size.
  • Request your sample by Email, or Enquiry Form stating the product reference. We will let you know if available or what we can send as an alternative.

Please note that we cannot cut into a new perforated sheet grille to provide a small sample for one customer. We would no longer be able to sell the remainder of the sheet.
Samples become available over time depending on what is being cut (if perforated) or made by hand (if Regency, Georgian and Interwoven) over the recent period.

 Back to Questions

Is there pattern all the way to the edge?
Yes if they are made to measure/order or cut to size.

All perforated grilles purchased in their stated sheet sizes, will have a small amount of unpatterned edge border where the pattern cannot be punched.
This is typically around 10 to 15mm but is indicated in the notes of your required grille.

(Rye and Woven Effect designs has a patterned area of approx. 904mm by 567mm.The remainder is around the edge is unstamped)

Back to Questions

Will brass grille tarnish/Why do you clear lacquer brass?
All brass is susceptible to tarnishing. How and if brass will change in appearance without lacquering cannot be predicted and depends on the environment it is in, whether it is touched, etc. Brass may look the same for years without any change at all. We spray all of our brass grille products with a fine clear lacquer coating to maintain their appearance and resist tarnishing unless specifically requested otherwise. Very light dusting is then all that is required to keep clean if required.

In our online shop perforated brass sheets include the choice to not have fine clear lacquer protection as a selectable option when buying online. The item is then supplied to the customer with a protective sheet of removable plastic film. Once removed, clear lacquering is recommended for long term resistance to tarnishing.

Back to Questions

Can you provide an antique finish to your perforated brass sheets?
(Antiquing information for made to measure grilles is provided on their respective product pages)

Yes. However, antiquing is a process that adds expense and an additional 1 week delay to your order.
If you would like to antique our perforated brass yourself, there are antiquing fluids available such Tourmaline, that can be applied. You will need to order your grille "unlacquered" and once treated, clear lacquer protect to fix the finish.
(This information is provided as an overview to assist our customers. Full instructions are available from the suppliers of these products and must be adhered to)

Antiquing information for made to measure grilles is provided on their respective pages.
